Dear friends of the Asian Human Rights Commission,

The AHRC has launched an online petition to support our international campaign for a field presence of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Sri Lanka.  Such a monitoring mission would reduce the executive interference into the criminal justice process when it comes to addressing atrocities such as torture, extra-judicial killings, etc. The monitoring mission for Sri Lanka as a long-term strategy to support the reconstruction of the domestic justice mechanisms would benefit all citizens and seems one of the few remaining options to add something positive to the ongoing crisis situation. The attached document explains the need and the role that such an international effort could play.
