Religious Perspectives on Human Rights is a weekly e-newsletter issued by Buddhist, Muslim, Catholic and Christian Groups on Human Rights, initiated by the Asian Human Rights Commission.
India, despite the claim to be the "biggest democracy" in the world has so far failed to ratify the Convention Against Torture, thereby allowing the widespread use of torture in the criminal investigations. It is in this context that the following statement by a group of human rights activists who met for four days needs to be understood. Your cooperation by way of comments, criticisms, supporting documents and reporting cases of torture will be appreciated.
