3. THE DOLL DISPLAY DENIED IN SINGAPORE

THE DOLL DISPLAY DENIED IN SINGAPORE

What a shame? An installation art display of 20 toy dolls measuring about 20 cm in height outside Raffles Place MRT Station was rejected by FPD (Film and Publication Department) due to law and order concerns as advised by the Police! Do the Police and FPD seriously believe singaporean's are going to riot on seeing the 20 cm toys?
The doll display was to mark 1st October, recognized by the UN as International Children's Day. Singapore is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of Children. How could such a creative, peaceful and educational display lead to a law and order problem? The installation art display was conceptualised to bring up the issues of the pressures and stress faced by children in society.
The information below was circulate to relevant govt departments, and feedback units. How are they to improve their dialogue with the public to remake Singapore? When they seem to be afraid to engage the public?
